CopyCount

Privacy Policy

Effective date: January 1, 2025  ·  App version: 1.0 and later

Short version: CopyCount does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything stays on your Mac.

1. Who We Are

CopyCount ("the App") is developed and distributed by Ron Yahav ("we", "us", or "our") at ronyahav.com. Questions about this policy can be sent to privacy@ronyahav.com.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

CopyCount does not collect, store, transmit, or share:

3. Local Storage Only

If the App ever stores any preferences, it does so using macOS UserDefaults, which is a local file on your Mac. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to any network service.

4. Clipboard Access

CopyCount reads your system clipboard (NSPasteboard) when explicitly requested or when the app is brought to the foreground. This is used solely to count the text you have copied. The App reads this data in real-time, calculates the statistics, and immediately discards the text. It does not log, cache, or transmit your clipboard contents.

5. Text Statistics

CopyCount performs character, word, and line counting locally on your device. The App does not read other file contents, upload text, or transmit your writing. All operations are performed locally using basic macOS system APIs.

6. Third-Party Services

CopyCount does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics providers, advertising networks, or cloud platforms. The App makes no network requests of any kind.

7. Mac App Store Distribution

CopyCount is distributed through the Apple Mac App Store. Apple may collect usage and crash data as described in Apple's own Privacy Policy. We receive only aggregated, anonymous App Store analytics (number of downloads, territory) and have no access to individual user data through Apple's systems.

8. Children's Privacy

CopyCount is a productivity utility intended for general audiences. It does not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or the relevant age in your jurisdiction). Because the App collects no data from anyone, no special measures for children's data are required.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective date" at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. Material changes will be communicated via an App update note on the Mac App Store.
